This Is Not a Collection of Activities.
It Is a System.
Most retreats offer experiences that are pleasant and often meaningful. But they remain separate — different things that happen on different days, without a unifying logic.
Beneath the Mask is structured differently.
Every element of this retreat — the ocean activities, the somatic work, the group dynamics, the creative integration, the preparation sessions, the bonfire ritual — is part of a single, intentional design.

Each experience creates the conditions for the next.
The retreat follows an experiential learning cycle that operates throughout every day:
-
Action — you have a real experience
-
Observation — you notice your reactions, patterns, and responses
-
Reflection — you make meaning from what you observed
-
Conscious repetition — you try again, with greater awareness
Insight without experience rarely produces lasting change. When you encounter patterns in the water, in movement, and in real relationship, the learning sticks because it was real.
Learning Through Experience
04
The group is one of the most important elements of the retreat. The relational dynamics that emerge mirror the patterns you carry in your everyday relationships, while the shared experience of vulnerability allows participants to be truly seen by others and discover that what they believed was uniquely theirs is often deeply shared.

The Power of the Group
03
The ocean is not a metaphor. It is an active element of the process. Surfing and freediving generate real, observable data about how each participant relates to challenge, fear, discomfort, and uncertainty.
The Ocean as Mirror
The body is not a vehicle for the mind. It is an intelligent system that holds information the mind cannot always access. Emotions are felt in the body first, and when we learn to feel them there, a different quality of awareness becomes available.
The Body as a Source of Information

Awareness Before Change
01
The retreat does not try to change you. It helps you see yourself more clearly. When the focus is on change, there is pressure to transform. When the focus is awareness, real options become available because you can finally see what is happening.
THE SIX PRINCIPLES
The work does not end when the retreat ends. The retreat is designed to support lasting integration through preparation sessions before the retreat and a post-retreat integration session after returning home.
For those who wish to continue the process, optional ongoing support is available, though the retreat is complete in itself.
Integration Beyond the Retreat
06
Learning happens in the body, in the moment, in a relationship.
Action. Observation. Reflection. Conscious repetition. This experiential learning cycle operates throughout every day.
You can understand your patterns intellectually without them shifting at all. But when you encounter them directly, and when that encounter is held within a therapeutic framework, something different becomes possible.
